Academic Success Workshops

The Academic Success Office along with the Academic Fellows sponsor workshops on a variety of topics, including notetaking, outlining, time management, technologies used in law school, stress resilience, and exam preparation. Look for the full schedule at the beginning of each semester.

All Academic Success Workshops will be held on select Wednesdays, in Rooms 175 or 275, from 11:50 to 12:50.

Fall 2014 Academic Success Workshops 

August 27Room 175 (12:05-1:00):  "Law School 101: Succeeding Early in Law School"

A short presentation on VARK learning styles (SEE: VARK Questionnaire: A Guide to Learning Styles) and understanding your learning style for more effective studying. This will be followed by a law school panel of 2Ls and 3Ls who will share their tips and advice on how they successfully navigated the first few months of law school, and how their strategies led to good grades. Lunch is provided but bring your own beverage

September 10th--- Room 275 (11:50-12:50):  "Briefing and Outlining for an A" 

There will be a short presentation on starting and law school school outline. The presentation will be followed by a student panel w/2Ls and 3Ls sharing their best practices of how they successfully transferred briefs and notes to a stellar outline that produced great grades at the end of the semester. Lunch is provided but bring your own beverage.

September 24th--Room 275 (11:50-12:50): "Using Technology in Law School for Success"

There will be a short presentation on using various technologies to assist with work associated with attending law school followed by a student panel of 2Ls and 3Ls who have successfully implemented technologies effectively. They will share best practices for success. Lunch will be provided. Bring your own beverage. 


November 12th--Room 275(11:50-12:50): "Exam Preparation: Tips on Preparing and Writing "A" Exam 

 There will be a short presentation on law school exam taking with tips and best practice techniques followed by a panel of 2Ls and 3Ls who have successfully applied their own exam-taking techniques with fantastic results.
