Law and Computers
Course Number: LAW 895
An examination of some of the legal problems arising out of the impact of computers on society. Topics such as privacy concerns, computer crime, liability for defective software, computer records as evidence, and the difficulties in acquiring and protecting computer software. Emphasis will be placed on the implications for action posed by the proliferation of computer technology.
Credit Hours: Two or three hours; may be offered as a seminar.

Designed to help prepare law students to deal professionally with law-related problems in the science and technology field. Sufficient exposure to the scientific method and to technical impacts will be provided to facilitate legal analysis in these areas.

A study of the law of unfair competition, false advertising, misappropriation, interference with business relationships, trade secrets and similar rights, plus an overview of patent, copyright, and trademark law.
