To make an application complete at the University of Louisville Law School Admissions Office, your application must include:

  • Signed and dated application form.

Applications must be submitted electronically through the Law School Admission Council Credential Assembly Service.  Applications may be signed electronically or a signature submitted with the certification letter via postal mail.  (if you have unusual circumstances that prevent you from applying online, you may contact our office at 502-852-6364 to discuss.)

  • Non-refundable $50 application fee.

The application fee may be submitted by credit/debit card with the online application or you may send a check or money order to the University of Louisville. Fee Waivers are automatically granted to applicants that have received a waiver via Law Services for the year the waiver was granted.  Applicants must turn in their waiver letter from Law Services to receive a fee waiver at the University of Louisville.

  • Personal statement (1-3 pages)

A personal statement is required and should be submitted electronically with the application for admission.  The personal statement should be two to three pages in length and well written.  It is recommended that you have several individuals proofread and edit your statement prior to submission.  Ideally, the personal statement will provide insight about the applicant.  Must be submitted through LSAC CAS (the Law School Admission Council Credential Assembly Service)

  • 2 Letters of Recommendation Required (Maximum of four will be accepted)
Letters from individuals who have knowledge of the applicant’s personal qualifications and ability to succeed in a competitive professional program, such as professors, academic advisers and employers, are helpful in evaluating the application. Letters of recommendation must be sent to the Law School Admission Council Credential Assembly Service. (If you have unusual circumstances that prevent you from sending your LOR's to LSAC, you may contact our office at 502-852-6364 to discuss.) Applications ready for review will be held until at least two letters of recommendation are received. No recommendations will be considered after an admission decision has been made on an application.
  • Law School Admissions Test (LSAT).
For the best chance of consideration, it is recommended that the LSAT be taken no later than February. LSAT scores from exams taken in June prior to the first semester of enrollment will need special permission in order to be considered. More information on the LSAT is available here or on the LSAC website.
  • Transcripts from all Undergraduate/Graduate institutions previously attended.
  •  Resume

Applications are not considered complete and ready for review until the law school receives the hard copy of the law school report from the Law School Admission Council Credential Assembly Service. Your report from LSAC CAS will not be sent until all items are received by LSAC.
