pThe Jefferson County Attorney’s Office is looking for 1L or 2L law students to conduct legal research in both Criminal and Civil areas of the office./ppResponsibilities include:/ppPrepare pleadings, jury instructions, discovery and various other legal memoranda and court documents as requested by prosecutors and civil attorneys in the County Attorney’s Office. Respond to various requests for legal research. File documents with the courts. Perform other tasks as needed to assist attorneys. Deliver interdepartmental mail, and assist in hand deliveries. Professor Arnold Hiring 2 Research Assistants
Professor Tony Arnold will be hiring two students to serve as research assistants in the Center for Land Use amp; Environmental Responsibility for 10 hours per week for a total of 30 weeks over the coming year: 10 weeks in Summer 2013, 10 weeks in Fall 2013, and 10 weeks in Spring 2014. Students will work as part of a team with Professor Arnold, Professor Daniel DeCaro, and perhaps other researchers on developing adaptive planning and problem-solving processes for watershed (or other ecosystem) governance. Tasks might include research into legal authorities, case-study or field research on watershed institutions, laboratory research on the psychology of participation and procedural justice in the management of common-pool resources, leadership of or participation in community-based watershed planning and management (application of research to specific public problems), various Center administrative tasks, and even gathering of data on water conditions. Research assistants might also participate in putting together proposals for grant funding for future research and projects. strongAny interested student should submit a resume AND a cover letter to Professor Arnold at a href=mailto:tony.arnold@louisville.edutony.arnold@louisville.edu/a no later than March 25, 2013/strong. Preference will be given to students who will be taking environmental and natural resources classes at the Law School in the 2013-14 academic year (or have taken them) so that students have a strong educational foundation in the work that they will be doing. AAJ Scholarships for 2013
pThe American Association for Justice (AAJ) 2013 Law Student Scholarship cycle has begun. AAJ offers more than $20,000 in annual scholarship funds, as well as programs for law students to enhance their legal education by attending AAJ’s 2013 Annual Convention in San Francisco, CA. /ppApplicants for AAJ scholarships must be AAJ Law Student Members.
