Calculation of Grade Point AverageThe grade point average (GPA) of a student will be calculated by dividing the number of quality points earned by the number of semester hours attempted for all courses in which he/she receives grades of "A", "A-", B+", "B", "B-", "C+", "C", "C-", "D+", "D", "D-", and "F". A student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all courses taken to be in good standing.

In addition to the above, upper-level students may elect to take a seminar or independent study on a pass/fail basis with the permission of the instructor and the Associate Dean for Student Life if there is substantial basis for assessing the student's performance independent of a terminal exam. Students must obtain approval and register for pass/fail grading no later than the last day to add a class. Students may apply no more than two pass/fail seminars or independent studies under this subsection toward graduation.
3. A grade of "C" (2.0) must be earned in order to receive a pass under either subsection 1 or 2.
