A Welcome from Dean Duncan

As Interim Dean of the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, I welcome you to a community of remarkable  teachers, scholars, counselors, students and professionals, all working together to develop future leaders. A large, extended family of talented alumnae and alumni will eagerly welcome you into the community that is UofL Law. The fifth oldest continually operating law school in the nation, Brandeis School of Law’s commitment to its students has a long tradition and deep roots. We build on this solid foundation to provide today’s students with outstanding contemporary instruction and abundant practical opportunities to enhance skills and gain experiences both in- and outside of ordinary legal practice.
When you join UofL Law you will be welcomed into a diverse student community that represents virtually all 50 states, as well as dozens of countries around the globe. Our public service requirement attracts many students who believe a lawyer’s duty is to not only zealously advocate for clients but also make the world a better place. Our graduates do just that! Upon graduation you will join the ranks of prestigious attorneys, business leaders and public servants creating positive change in communities across the nation and around the world.
While at Brandeis School of Law you will experience small classes and thoughtful professors and staff that care deeply about your development in the law. Many opportunities exist to contribute to a professor’s cutting edge research or participate in one of three law journals that address the most important issues of today’s world. UofL Law excels in national moot competitions and supports dozens of student organizations. Also, being located in the city of Louisville allows our students to help community members in one of our thriving clinics.
We offer all this while at the same time being consistently recognized as a Best Value Law School.

As a proud graduate of this law school and a member of its faculty for over 15 years, I know firsthand as a student, alumna and professor what a fantastic school this is!  We are thrilled for you to join us.
