Roger Pilon is the founder and director of Cato's Center forConstitutional Studies, which has become an important force in thenational debate over constitutional interpretation and judicialphilosophy. He is the publisher of the Cato Supreme Court Review and isan adjunct professor of government at Georgetown University through TheFund for American Studies. Prior to joining Cato, Pilon held five seniorposts in the Reagan administration, including at State and Justice, andwas a National Fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution. In 1989 theBicentennial Commission presented him with its Benjamin Franklin Awardfor excellence in writing on the U.S. Constitution. In 2001 ColumbiaUniversity’s School of General Studies awarded him its Alumni Medal ofDistinction. Pilon lectures and debates at universities and law schoolsacross the country and testifies often before Congress. His writing hasappeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall StreetJournal, the Los Angeles Times, Legal Times, National Law Journal,Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, Stanford Law & Policy Review,and elsewhere. He has appeared on ABC's Nightline, CBS's 60 Minutes II,Fox News Channel, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and other media. Pilon holds aB.A. from Columbia University, an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the Universityof Chicago, and a J.D. from the George Washington University School ofLaw.

An ABA client counseling team informational meeting will be held
Tuesday, November 11 at 12:15 in the Washer Lounge.  It should last
approximately 20-30 minutes.The ABA Client Counseling Competition
simulates a law office consultation in which you, acting as a team of
two attorneys, are presented with a typical client matter.  The topic
this year is Negligence and Other Tort Claims.   The initial
tryouts are on November 21, from 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  Tryout as a team
(individuals will not be paired).  The chosen team will not practice
until after fall semester exams.Sign up sheet will be on the Moot Court Board office door Tuesday, Nov.11 through Thursday, Nov. 20.The ABA competition is in February, and all participants will receive 1 credit hour.See Andrew Palmer or Professor Abramson with questions.

Brandeis's 152nd birthday, Professor Laura Rothstein has planned a celebration that will include a slide show presentation, a quiz, prizes and some of Brandeis' favorite refreshments. Brandeis at 150: The Louisville Perspective, which was published by Butler Books in connection with the November 13, 2006, Sesquicentennial conference, will be available in the Faculty Resource Center at a special one day only Brandeis birthday rate of just $15.Kurt Metzmeier and Scott Campbell will be available in the library's Handmaker Room from 2-3 PM that day to answer questions about the Papers of Louis D. while simultaneously earning school credit and strengthening your
resume, then this competition is for you.There will be two
teams competing with two students on each team. The regional
competition is February 20-22, 2009, at Michigan State University, and
the final competition is March 25-28, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas.For
tryouts, you will need to submit your resume and present a 10-15 minute
opening statement or closing argument using a past competition problem
- State of Lone Star v. Tony Grubb.  Students can access all of the
