The Student Bar Foundation at the University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law is the only student-led and student-run organization that provides fellowships for law students who pursue low-paying or unpaid law-related public interest work. Proceeds from our Annual Charity Auction provide fellowships for these students to provide legal services to the poor or indigent, support public education, the judiciary, and citizens’ access to justice.Past fellowships allowed students to work at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse, the Department of Public Advocacy, Legal Aid, KY Refugee Ministries, the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, the Kentucky Supreme Court, the Department of Justice, the National Juvenile Justice Network, the Center for Women and Families, and international service-learning programs in Rwanda and Belize. Last year, the Annual Charity Auction raised $12,000 and provided ten fellowships for students to perform public interest work in Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. This year’s Auction will be held in the Bluegrass Room at The Brown Hotel, March 29, 2012, 5:30 p.m. Silent Auction and 7 p.m. Live Auction. We look forward to seeing you there. | ||
