The Brandeis School of Law Moot Court Board is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 academic year. MCB plans and manages external and internal moot court, mock trial, and professional skills competitions at the Brandeis School of Law. MCB members organize and administer the Pirtle-Washer Competition, First-Year BLS Oral Arguments, First-Year Oral Advocacy Competition, and any moot court competitions the Brandeis School of Law hosts during the year. In addition, each MCB member acts as a facilitator for a moot court team or competition. Each member is expected to fully participate in planning and carrying out all MCB events.Any interested persons should submit their completed application, resume, and Waiver and Release form by May 9th at 9:00 p.m. Please see the attached application for more information. On Monday, May 7, from 12:45-2:40 PM, the end of the year celebration for the Central High School Law & Government Magnet students will take place at Central High School. The graduating seniors will be honored, outstanding achievements by other Central law magnet students will be recognized, and our law school students, faculty, and staff who have participated and attend will be thanked. There will be ice cream treats. You are invited to take a break from grading exams and join us. Start: 5:00 pm

UofL Office of Community Engagement Fifth Year Anniversary of the Signature Partnership Initiative with West LouisvilleOn Tuesday, May 8, from 5:30-7:30 PM, at the African American Heritage Center, 1702 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, President Ramsey will host a celebration of the Signature Partnership Initiative, recognizing community partnerships with West Louisville. The Law School will have a table display about our partnership with Central High School, which was one of the first Signature Partnerships to be officially recognized. Other community partnerships that affect residents of West Louisville are the Law School’s Clinic, under the direction of Shelly Santry, which was highlighted in the UofL Community Engagement 2005-2010 Progress Report, “Realizing the Dream” and Tony Arnold’s Food Justice and Land Use program. | ||

The Young Lawyers Section of the Louisville Bar Association will be hosting a forum on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 4:30 pm for the candidates running for Jefferson County Commonwealth's Attorney. The forum will be held at the Louisville Bar Association, 600 W. Main Street, and a dessert reception will follow. This event is open to the public. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about the candidates and to network with the candidates and other attorneys. | ||
