The Business Law Society would like to announce that our General Interest Meeting for students interested in becoming a member will be Wednesday, October 2nd at 12:10pm - 12:45pm in room 175.

The Business Law Society is a student organization that facilitates relationships with local businesses and attorneys who specialize in many different areas of business law such as Business Litigation, Corporate Transactional Law, Intellectual Property, In-House Counsel, and more.

We organize social events to introduce our members to local business attorneys, informative Q&A panels with attorneys to discuss various areas of business law, career placement insight with our alumni, and will have specialized opportunities for paid members.  We strive to provide our members with the tools, direction and relationships needed to win job placement in the corporate world.  The general interest meeting will explain more about what we do, how to become a member and our plans for the upcoming year.

Please join us for a free lunch provided by Wolters Kluwer Business & Law.

Note: If you want to pay your membership dues at the event, check or cash will be acceptable.  Dues for the year are $10.

Legislative History Resources at the UofL Law Library:  ProQuest Congressional and HeinOnline Historical Statutes DatabasesJust in time for Halloween, chocolate candy will be offered to everyone who attends! Attention
Law Review Editors: Professor Metzmeier will be available for
personalized research assistance following his presentation.   Researching the legislative history of a statute (or trying to finding older versions of a law) is a necessary but often dreaded part of legal practice. If an attorney has a case that turns on a disputed passage of a state or federal law, it’s likely that he or she—or the newest  law clerk in the office—is doomed to a long day amidst piles of dusty books. Or not. This session will introduce researchers to two valuable services for which the Law Library subscribes that can be used in legislative research:  ProQuest Congressional, a professional data service that covers the U.S. Congress, and the state statute databases of HeinOnline, which contain session laws and old statutory codes for all the fifty states.
