DESCRIPTION:<p>Journalist and political commentator\, <a href=\\"http\://www.keithboykin.com/\\" title=\\"Keith Boykin\\">Keith Boykin</a> will speak to Professor Marcosson's class in the afternoon\, prior to his keynote address about <a href=\\"http\://louisville.edu/rso/commonground/\\" title=\\"Keith Boykin&#039\;s keynote address\\">&quot\;Race\, Gender\, &amp\; Sexuality in the 2008 Presidential Race&quot\;</a> at Ekstrom Library's Chao Auditorium that evening. The law school is a major sponsor of Mr. Boykin's to UofL\, which will kick-off Pride Week (October 6-11). Professor Marcosson and law student\, James Taylor\, will moderate the evening program. The Kentucky Fairness Alliance will host a reception afterwards in the lobby outside the auditorium. The entire law school community is welcome to attend both events.</p>

DESCRIPTION:<p>The Fall 2008 <a href=\\"/academics/boehl-lecture-series\\">Boehl Distinguished Lecture in Land Use Policy</a> will be held Monday\, October 6\, at 6\:00 pm in Room 275 of the Law School\, with a reception in the Cox Lounge immediately following the lecture.  </p>
 <p>The lecture and reception are free and open to the public (no RSVP).  The Lecture will be given by <a href=\\"http\://wagner.nyu.edu/faculty/facultyDetail.php?whereField=facultyID&amp\;whereValue=519\\" target=\\"_blank\\">Vicki Been</a>\, who is the Elihu Root Professor of Law\, Professor of Public Policy\, and Director of the Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy at New York University.</p>

SUMMARY:D.C. v. HELLER AND ITS AFTERMATH\: DO WE REALLY HAVE THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS NOW?
DESCRIPTION:<p>Stephen Halbrook is the author of the new book <em>The Founders' Second Amendment</em> and the annual <em>Firearms Law Deskbook</em>. Located in Fairfax\, Virginia\, he is lead counsel in suits against the Chicagoland gun bans\, the District of Columbia semiautomatic handgun ban\, and New Orleans'Katrina-era gun confiscations. He filed an amici curiae brief on behalf of 55 Senators and 250 Representatives in DC v. Heller\, which cited his book Freedmen\, the 14th Amendment\, &amp\; the Right to Bear Arms. Halbrook argued and won three Supreme Court cases on firearm law issues\, including Castillo v. US\, Printz v. US\, and US v. TC Arms. He received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Florida State University\, taught at Howard University and George Mason University\, and received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
