Professor Eades received a B.A. in English Literature from Rhodes College and a J.D. from the University of Memphis. He also received an LL.M. from Harvard Law School.

Professor Eades was a staff attorney with the Tennessee Valley Authority, before joining the faculty in 1977. Since then he has taught, primarily, in the torts and evidence area. In recognition of outstanding teaching, Professor Eades received the University's Outstanding Teacher Award in 1991 and the inaugural James R. Merritt Fellow for the 1994-95 academic year. With an interest in technology combined with the tort law field, he was selected as a CALI Fellow in Tort Law for 2001. That fellowship allowed Professor Eades to work with other senior tort scholars from around the country to write student materials for use with computers for the Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction. Since that time, Professor Eades has been selected to be a member of the CALI Editorial Board and the CALI Board of Directors.

The research interest of Professor Eades has tracked his teaching interest. He is the author of a multiple volume set of Jury Instruction books for use on a national level. In addition, he has a series of books on Kentucky law to be used by Kentucky lawyers. His interest in the practical application of the legal theory has led to his appointment, by the Kentucky Supreme Court, to a four-year term to the Kentucky Commission on Rules of Evidence. In recognition of excellence in research, Professor Eades was named a Distinguished University Scholar in 1996.

Professor Eades also has an interest in international issues. He has been a visiting faculty member at the University of Leeds in Leeds, England; the Johannes Gutenberg Universitat in Mainz, Germany; and the University of Turku, in Turku, Finland. In 2001, Professor Eades was named to the Fulbright Senior Specialist list.
