Laura Rothstein receives the 2011 Jefferson County Women Lawyers Association's Achievement in Excellence Award
Please join UofL Law in congratulating Laura Rothstein on her designation as the 2011 recipient of the Jefferson County Women Lawyers Association's Achievement in Excellence Award. The WLA's description of the Achievement in Excellence Award fits Laura perfectly:
The Achievement in Excellence Award is an award developed by the WLA to honor an extraordinary attorney in our community who, over the years, has made significant contributions to the legal profession. Whether it be through involvement and dedication to the WLA and/or the LBA, or simply promoting integrity and professionalism in the legal profession by way of example in his/her daily life, the award recipient is a role-model, not only for those of us who are new to the practice of law, but for all of us who practice law in this community every day.
The WLA commended Laura for her extraordinary range of achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service in a legal career spanning 37 years and seven different appointments, in many of which Laura was the first and only woman in the relevant department of program. Our great fortune is that Laura's current appointment makes her a colleague of ours.
"Since coming to Louisville in 2000, I have been impressed with the principle of service shown by the Louisville legal community. The Women Lawyers Association is one of the leaders within the legal community in carrying out the value of service. WLA has been extremely supportive of the law school's Central High School partnership as well as being of great service to our law students at the Brandeis School of Law. I began law school when there were few women in legal education or the profession. Organizations such as WLA have played a key role in improving the lives and experiences of women within the profession. It is a great honor to be recognized by WLA, especially during the year it celebrates its 50th anniversary."
