Practice Test Requirements

  • For practice tests only, identify yourself in the Exam Number field with only your ULink user name. Example:
  • On the Course menu, select Practice exam, (F13m or F13)

Remember that failure to timely submit a practice test prohibits you from taking any exam on computer, excludes you from technical assistance during actual exams and may subject you to other penalties. For detailed instructions and information, read the companion document, Taking and Submitting an Exam4 Practice Test.

Practice Test Confirmation

Students who successfully submit a valid Exam4 practice test will receive an automated e-mail message confirming their submission within an hour. A successfully submitted, valid practice test meets three criteria:

  1. The student has identified himself or herself in the Exam Number field with his or her ULink user name (e.g., jwboot01);
  2. The student has chosen Practice exam from the list of courses; and
  3. The student has submitted the practice test during the applicable practice test period (see Dates and Deadlines).

If you submit a practice test and do not receive a confirmation e-mail message within a few hours, your practice test did not satisfy one or more of these criteria and you have not satisfied the practice test requirement. Identify your error(s) and try again.

After receiving your initial confirmation, you may then submit as many practice tests as you wish whenever you wish.

Exam4 Modes

In addition to the standard Closed mode, Exam4 also offers Open Laptop and Open Laptop + Network modes. Open Laptop mode permits access to documents and other materials stored on your hard drive, optical drive or a USB storage medium. Open Laptop + Network permits access to those sources plus anything available via a network connection, including the Internet. Some professors may opt to permit use of an Open Mode
