Bio:
The Quandary Men began when art school buddies Tully and Schweickart realized the likelihood of making a living off their paintings was remote at best, and that music offered a similar outlet for their creative energies and better hope of meeting girls. Schweickart met Fraze on a Saturday afternoon at a music store, while the former was there to post a "Guitarist Wanted" ad, and the latter had come in to steal plectra. The trio soon found that their only common musical inclination was a mutual disdain for World Music; but it was a disdain so deep that a bond quickly formed.
For months, a revolving door of drummers frustrated Tully, Schweickart and Fraze's efforts, until an otherwise unfortunate bar fight proved lucky. One evening, a belligerent Schweickart and Fraze started a scrap with another bar patron. After the fight was broken up, Becker, an attorney who just happened to dodge a flying beer bottle, offered his card to Schweickart and Fraze, then helped them up off the floor. Schweickart and Fraze declined Becker's offer of representation, but thought it fateful when they learned he shared their contempt for World Music. The next day, Becker bought a pawn shop drum kit, began teaching himself the instrument the Mel Bay way, and The Quandary Men born.
