Meet Judicial Candidates

Have you ever filled out a ballot only to realize that you have never even heard of any of the judicial candidates?  Have you ever sat in class and wondered what exactly a judge does?  Who are these people and what do they do?  How do they get to where they are?  And how much power do they really have over the outcome of a case?  On Tuesday, October 7 at 12:15 in room 275, you can find out.  Join us for lunch and a meet-and-greet of local judicial candidates.  Candidates for District Court, Circuit Court, Appellate Court, and the Kentucky Supreme Court want to introduce themselves to you.  Take this opportunity to meet the individuals who may preside over your future cases.  Sponsored by the Student Bar Association.  Lunch will be provided.

3Ls -- Get Your Name (and Face) in Front of Alumni

Are you graduating in December 2008 or May 2009? If so, the law school would like to introduce you to our Alumni.

The 2008 Fall Alumni Magazine will include photos and a little information about next year's graduating class. This information will help our alumni get to know about the great new lawyers we are graduating this year. All law students graduating in August or December 2008 or May 2009 are urged to share a little bit about themselves with our alumni.

This is the same opportunity posted in August. We received many profiles, but not everyone's, and we want the whole graduating class represented!

Don't have a photo? Please contact Beth Haendiges to set up a time for a photograph.

To participate, please click on this link: http://www.law.louisville.edu/node/1963 and complete the form. (You must be logged in to access the form.)

The deadline to participate has been extended to October 1.

Reflections on the KY Supreme Court's Visit

Kentucky Supreme Court Oral Arguments

Members of the law school community were asked to share their impressions of the Kentucky Supreme Court's recent visit on September 10-11, 2008.

“I thought it was a great opportunity to sit in on a real case and see the Supreme Court justices do their job,” said Kim Albritton, a senior at Central High School and a participant in the law magnet program, which is part of UofL's Signature Partnership Initiative.

Noelle Rao (2L) shared Ms. Albritton's appreciation, “I think it’s a great opportunity to see the Supreme Court in action.”
