Posted November 20th, 2009 by Virginia MattinglyThe law library will open from 8AM-11PM Monday, 11/23 and Tuesday, 11/24. It will be closed on Wednesday, 11/25 and Thursday, 11/26 for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will be open 9AM-5PM on Friday, 11/27, 9AM-6PM Saturday, 11/28 and 1PM-11PM Sunday, 11/29.
Justice Louis D. Brandeis' Special Collection
Posted November 12th, 2009 by Virginia MattinglyScott Campbell is the curator of the Louis D. Brandeis Special Collection, which has been visited by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and biographer Melvin Urofsky. The law library hopes to digitize the microfilm and printed materials some day to add to its digital collection.
The law library also contains several books about Justice Brandeis, including the recently published biography Louis D. Brandeis: A Life (KF8745.B67 U749 2009) and Biographical Encyclopedia of the Supreme Court: The Lives and Legal Philosophies of the Justices (KF 8744 .B56 2006), both by Melvin I. Urofsky. Copies of Brandeis at 150: the Louisville Perspective (KF8745 .B67 B671 2006) are available for purchase in the Resource Center across from room 275. These are just a few of the many items that can be found by searching our online catalog, Minerva.
Banned Books Week Read-in

Join us at the Ekstrom Library east entrance for the annual Banned Books Week Read-in which will be held Monday to Wednesday, September 28-30, from 11 AM - 1 PM Faculty, staff, and students will read aloud from their favorite challenged books. An informational exhibit will also be on display. Join us in celebrating the freedom to read!
Louisville Bar Briefs

It contains an update about the law clinic, a summary of the library's prized collections, a lovely piece by Jim Chen, "Rhapsody in Red and Black", and an outstanding article by Joshua A. Spiers (3L), "Police-Referred Mediation: Filling the Void Between Police Authority and the Court Room".

Recreational Reading Selections

In response to the student survey recently conducted by the library, subscriptions have been entered for the following popular magazines: The Nation, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Vogue, Real Simple, Louisville Magazine, People, Consumer Reports, Mac World, Entertainment Weekly, and Popular Science. Current issues will be available in the library's Reading Room. Thanks to all students who participated in the survey.
Law Library Fall Semester Hours
Posted August 16th, 2009 by Virginia MattinglyThe law library returns to its regular schedule on Monday, August 17. During the fall semester, we will generally be open from 8 AM - 11 PM Monday thru Thursday, 8 AM - 6 PM on Fridays, 9AM - 6 PM on Saturdays, and 1 PM - 11 PM on Sundays.
Refer to the library hours for details and excpetions.
