Four distinguished local attorneys who practice in the property law area will be panelists on careers in property on Friday, March 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 275. Pizza will be provided.  The attorneys will discuss what it is like to practice in an array of real estate and property areas involving real estate transactions ranging from complex projects, such as Fourth Street Live and Liberty Green, to neighborhood and historic preservation issues to traditional transactions involving residential and commercial real estate. The attorneys are Fred Joseph (Stites & Harbison, a transactional lawyer focusing all aspects of real estate law including complex real estate transactions), Stephen Porter (known for his work on neighborhood preservation), Sharon Hardy (Weber & Rose, whose practice includes complex commercial real estate transactions), and Anne Scholtz (Borders & Borders, PLC, whose work focuses on real estate closings and other property law issues, estate planning and probate matters, and business formations and transactions). The speakers will discuss not only their work, but how they chose the career path and how new lawyers can chart their course.  A summary of the speakers' bios is attached.

Did you know that the Office of Professional Development will request reciprocity (using another law school's Career Services or accessing a job database) at a law school?  Keep in mind that most  law schools don't allow reciprocity during Fall On Campus Interviews; some do not grant reciprocity to 1L or 2L students and some law schools (where there are several law schools close to each other) limit reciprocity to one law school.

Have you been thinking about applying for a federal judicial clerkship? Do you want to know what a federal judicial clerkship is about? If you are a 2L, you won't want to miss this information session. TODAY from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in Room 175, the Office of Professional Development will be hosting an information session on everything you will need to know about how to apply for federal judicial clerkships on OSCAR, the documents required to upload with your application, and upcoming deadlines. We will have a panel of past, present and future students who have received federal judicial clerkships. They will provide valuable insight on their experiences through this process. Although this is geared toward 2L students, 1L students are certainly welcome to attend.

If you have given any thought to applying for these clerkships, please be sure to mark your calendar and plan to attend.  Pizza will be served.

Bidding will end TODAY at 12:00 noon for three certificates to be used towards three individual Kaplan Bar Review courses. Certificates available for bids are as follows:

What:  An unpaid internship in one of Congressman Geoff Davis’ District Offices in Kentucky for students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in a Congressional office learning about issues that are important to Kentucky and the United States.

When:  Internships are available for the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters.  Internships in the district require a minimum of eight hours per week.

Where:  District offices in Fort Mitchell, Ashland and La Grange.

Why:  The Congressional Internship Program is designed to provide students with a first-hand experience in the inner workings of a Congressional office that cannot be replicated in a classroom environment.  The program will provide eager and motivated students with a solid foundation upon which they can explore their career options.  Academic credit can be applied upon discussion with the Internship Coordinator and respective School Administrator.
