Bar Bri Silent Auction Bidding Begins TODAY!
Posted February 13th, 2012 by Jina A. ScintaThis is a reminder that the silent auction bidding for a Bar Bri Bar Review Course will begin at 10:00 a.m. TODAY. Two certificates valued at $1,500 each will be auctioned. Each certificate is good toward the tuition of any of the Bar Bri Bar Review courses in every state. Bidding ends at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15. The winner will be announced at the Bar Bri table after the bidding ends on February 15.
Bid sheets will be located in the Office of Professional Development Library (Room 186). Credit cards and checks will be accepted. Payment will be due within 2 weeks of the auction's close. Good luck!

Public Service Opportunity with Partnership for Animal Law Services (PALS)

ScintaPartnership for Animal Law Services (PALS) is looking for one to two students to do research and compile Kentucky State Statutes and Kentucky County Ordinances relating to animals to create a searchable database for the PALS' website. Students with strong legal research skills are preferred. Students would receive public service credit working on this project.

RehEqual Justice Works Summer Corps provides law students with the chance to spend their summer working on a legal project at a qualifying nonprofit public interest organization or public defender office of their choosing. Summer Corps members expand the delivery of critically needed legal assistance in low-income and underserved communities across the country on a broad range of issue areas.

Summer Corps will begin accepting online applications for the 2012 program on March 1, 2012. The deadline to apply is March 23, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Summer Corps is an AmeriCorps-funded program that in 2012 will provide 711 law students with the opportunity to earn a $1,175 education award voucher for dedicating their summer to a qualifying legal project at a nonprofit public interest organization.
Sud-Chemie coming on campus to interview for paid Law Intern

RehSüd-Chemie Inc. is part of an international group of companies specializing in the development and manufacture of catalysts and desiccants for uses in various industries including the chemical manufacturing, refining, pharmaceutical and electronics industries.
This is a paid position ($12.00 - $15.00 depending on experience) designed to provide students with a hands-on learning opportunity while serving as a contributing team member to an in-house legal department. The Intern may have the opportunity to work with both corporate and intellectual property in-house legal practitioners. The Intern will likely participate in the review and drafting of contracts, negotiations with internal business clients, the preparation and filing of intellectual property applications, support of litigation case management, individualized research relating to both intellectual property and corporate law, and assume responsibility for various administrative tasks related to law department management.
Work will begin in May. Intern will work between ten (10) and twenty (20) hours a week during the school year and between thirty (30) to forty (40) hours a week during the summer. Hours are flexible during 8-5 Monday through Friday, depending on student’s class schedule.
This position is open to all 1L and 2L law students. Strong research, computer and organizational skills are a must. Prior experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or other full-time employment in a business setting is strongly preferred, although not required.

Public Service Fellowship Application Deadline!
Posted February 7th, 2012 by Jina A. ScintaThis is a reminder that the deadline for turning in your fellowship applications for summer 2012 fellowships is THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, AT 3:00 P.M. Applications are available in Room 180 or in the Office of Professional Development Library (Room 186). Each application is in a manila folder respectively marked and attached to the bulletin board.
If you are turning in more than one application, please paperclip each application with its attachments. Please leave them in the tray on the door of Room 180 or slide them under the door.
