Academic Success Tip - Get to Know Your Professors

The faculty members at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law are top notch legal scholars and teachers, and they also provide valuable insight into how you can be successful.  Be sure to meet with each of your professors regularly during the semester.  They are a great resource.   Utilize their office hours to clarify points of the law or to follow up on a class discussion.

Student Writing Competition :: Entries due August 15, 2011

A student writing competition is being organized in conjunction with the annual symposium convened by the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution at the University of Missouri School of Law. This year’s symposium is entitled “Border Skirmishes: The Intersection Between Litigation and International Commercial Arbitration”.

The competition is sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) North American Branch and offers a $300 prize to the competition winner. The winner may also have his or her winning submission published in the Journal of Dispute Resolution along with other symposium papers.

Notice about traffic and parking changes beginning May 17

Beginning Monday, May 16, UofL will start an intensive renovation project on The Oval in front of Grawemeyer Hall.  This project will necessitate significant changes to traffic patterns and to parking in this area. 

Beginning May 17, The Oval will become a two-way street, and signs will be posted to direct traffic to the Natural Sciences and Law lots. Traffic patterns will change several times before the project's expected completion on Aug. 15.

ACADEMIC APPAREL AND HONOR CORD DISTRIBUTION

Distribution at the Red Barn:
Wednesday, May 11, 12:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 12, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Friday, May 13, 10:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Honor Cords:
As a fundraiser, the Golden Key International Honour Society will be selling honor cords to students who are candidates for honors as of the Fall 2010 semester.  Eligible students may purchase cords and wear them with their caps and gowns at Commencement and Convocation.  Honor cords may be purchased at the Red Barn on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday at the same time academic apparel is available.  Honor cords are $15.00 each and must be paid by cash or check payable to the Golden Key International Honour Society.  Students who are candidates for Cum Laude (3.2-3.499) may purchase a gold honor cord; Magna Cum Laude (3.5-3.799) may purchase a red honor cord; and Summa Cum Laude (3.8-4.0) may purchase a gold/red honor cord.

Hotels for Guests:  To get the rate listed, you must ask for the UofL rate.
