ABA Regional Negotiation Competition this Saturday & Sunday
Posted November 5th, 2013 by Kimberly K. Ballard
On Saturday, November 9 and Sunday, November 10, the Law School will be hosting the American Bar Association Regional Negotiation Competition at the Law School. Competitors on 24 teams from law schools throughout the Midwest and South will be participating, as will be 55 judges and about 20 Moot Court Board student volunteers. We will be using all (or nearly all) of the classrooms, the Cox Lounge, the Mosaic Lobby, and the Washer Lounge, as well as the copiers/printers in the Resource Center and the Mailroom. We will set up the rooms at about 4:00 p.m. on Friday, and the competition will run from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and then Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During these days, the classrooms, Cox Lounge, Mosaic Lobby, and Washer Lounge will not be availabe for use, and we will need to have quiet in the hallways. The Law Library and individual faculty and staff offices, of course, will not be affected. In addition, we will be providing food to competitors, coaches/advisors, judges, and volunteers on a continuing basis, as people will be coming and going. The budget for the food for about 140 total people is very tight, so please do not help yourself to food or drinks that you might come across in the Cox Lounge or in or outside 275. Thanks so much for understanding! Periodically hosting a regional competition is part of our Law School being able to compete in ABA skills competitions, and this is the first time in many years that we have hosted the regional negotiation competition. Even though limited use of the building this weekend might be a temporary inconvenience, it's a necessary element of providing wonderful skills competition opportunities to our students.
