ABA Regional Negotiation Competition News

We had a very successful ABA Regional Negotiation Competition at the Law School this past Saturday and Sunday. The competition was attended by 40 competitors from law schools throughout the South and Midwest, 12 coaches and alternates, 54 judges, several of our staff, and more Moot Court Board volunteers than I could count (about 20 in all, I think). Our guests repeatedly effused high praise for how well run the competition was, how helpful the judges' comments were, and how beautiful the Law School, U of L campus, and city of Louisville are.

The final results were: 1) Team L, Tulane University School of Law; 2) Team J, Cumberland Law School, Samford University; 3) Team D, University of Mississippi College of Law; and 4) Team F, Tulane University School of Law.

Very special and deep thanks goes to several people who went above and beyond the call of duty to make this such a succesful competition: Kellie Davis, Damon McCormick, Kaitlyn Jones, Lacey Gullett, Jamie Hafley, Mia Walters, Jon-Paul Moody, Becky Wenning, Becky Wimberg, Maggie Bratcher, and Ariana Levinson. Also, the catering by Expressions of You was exceptional in its quality, service, and affordability. We very much appreciate Camille and her team. And the 55 judges, composed of alumni, members of the legal community, and non-lawyer negotiators in our community, gave generously of their time, insights, judgment, and feedback. Finally, thank you to the entire Law School community for your flexibility, as the competition took up most of the Law School this weekend.

All best wishes,

Professor Tony Arnold
