Journalist Tavis Smiley presents an in-depth look at the speech Dr. King delivered at the Riverside Church in New York City on April 4, 1967—exactly one year before his assassination. In his speech, “A Time to Break Silence,” Dr. King expressed his opposition to the Vietnam War, and linked his opposition to the Civil Rights Movement.

The speech took place just five days after Dr. King spoke to an overflow crowd in the Allen Courtroom at our law school. On February 28, the law school will unveil a permanent display in the entry way to the Courtroom commemorating Dr. King’s visit.
