Sign up for the First Year Oral Argument Competition!

1Ls: As you know, First Year Oral Arguments are Saturday at the Hall of Justice. This will be your first chance (unless you've done a practice round) to argue your appellate brief in a formal setting. But, it doesn't have to end there! The First Year Oral Argument Competition startsMonday! Compete against your classmates for cash prizes while arguing the same brief you prepared for FYOA!
Preliminary Rounds are Monday the 24 and Tuesday the 25, and are judged by Moot Court Board members. (Times & locations TBA.)
The top eight competitors advance to the Quarter-Final round on Wednesday, March 26 from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Moot Court Board alumni & local attorneys judge these rounds.
The top four competitors advance to the Semi-Final round on Thursday, March 27 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. District Court and Circuit Court judges will judge this round.
Finally, the top two competitors advance to the Final Round on Friday, March 28, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Judges from the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Kentucky Supreme Court will judge this round.

All students are invited to observe these rounds.

Cash Prizes are involved - $500 for first place and $250 for second place!

Sign-up sheets will be available on the MCB door starting Tuesday, March 18. A sign-up sheet will also be available on Saturday at the Hall of Justice. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, March 23 at noon. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mia Walters atmewalt04@louisville.edu.
