General Rules
- No credit is given for work done in absentia. However, with the prior approval of the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, a student may take a limited number of course at another ABA approved law school and receive credit toward graduation from the School of Law. A student will only receive credit for courses in which a grade of C or higher is earned. The grades received at another law school will not be included in the law school grade point calculation.
- No student will be permitted to register for more than 16 class hours per week in the day division or 12 hours in the evening division without special permission of the Assistant Dean.
- After the first year, day students must take not fewer than ten hours per semester, and evening students must take not fewer than eight hours per semester.
- Students may take one course not in their division in addition to being allowed to take a course not in their division for purposes of class conflict or when the course they wish to take is not offered.
- At least one-half of the credit hours taken each semester must be taken in the division in which the student is enrolled.
- Students enrolled in the School of Law are not permitted to enroll in any other school of this University or in any other institution of learning without the consent of the Assistant Dean.
- All beginning students must take the full complement of first-year courses prescribed by the faculty. First-year students will not be permitted to reduce their course load during their first year of study.
- Evening students must complete Property I and II and Criminal Law in the Evening Division. Evening students must take Property I and II during the second year. Evening students will take Criminal Law in the second or third year, in accordance with the rolling two-year Evening Division schedule. All first year requirements must be completed in the division in which the student initially enrolled. If Criminal Law is not offered in the year a student takes Property I and II in the Evening Division, a student who has transferred to the Day Division may request permission to take Criminal Law in the Day Division. Permission will be granted based on availability.
