Congrats to Recipients of 2011 Student Bar Foundation Fellowships

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2011 Student Bar Foundation Fellowships. There were a record number of outstanding applications this year. Everyone who made a substantial contribution to the success of the SBF Charity Auction received a fellowship as well as applicants demonstrating financial need, a commitment to public service and a connection to the mission of the SBF. The 2011 fellowship recipients will focus their summer service on (1) delivering legal services to the poor and indigent, (2) promoting law-related education; and (3) improving the judiciary, the legal profession, and citizen access to the legal system.

Students receiving fellowships will be working at a number of law-related public interest jobs this summer including judicial internships, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse, the KY Department of Public Advocacy, the Legal Aid Society of Louisville, and Kentucky Refugee Ministries. These students will spend their summers working in Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Because the SBF is a student-run organization, we need students who are dedicated to our mission to help us solicit donations for the SBF auction next year. Please e-mail sarah.potter@louisville.edu for information about getting involved and helping the SBF continue to support Brandeis School of Law students dedicated to public interest work.

Special thanks to Professor Abramson, the Student Bar Foundation Advisor, and to Dean Urbach and Vickie Tencer for their valuable assistance.
