Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy Needs Students!

The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy is need of student interns for the summer in their LaGrange and Frankfort offices.  They need one student in their LaGrange Office and three students in their Frankfort Office.  The descriptions of the work in both offices is as follows:

Department of Public Advocacy, Post-Conviction (LaGrange) - Law students will assist DPA attorneys with post-conviction cases. Assignments would include record review, legal research, claim drafting, and an Oldham County prison visit to meet the client.

Department of Public Advocacy, Appeals Branch (Frankfort) - Law students will assist criminal appellate attorneys with legal research including statutory and constitutional analysis of criminal rules, statutes and practices; drafting sections of appellate briefs; reviewing trial records to marshal facts to support appellate argument. Opportunity to observe oral argument before Kentucky Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

Students will be able to count their hours toward their public service requirement.  Interested students should contact Jina Scinta at  Assignments will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
