Dean Sealing is a 1985 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Beasley School of Law at Temple University, where he was a member of the Law Review. He is a 1982 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado. Following law school, Dean Sealing specialized in tax and international tax at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Philadelphia; international tax and international business transactions at Baker & McKenzie, Washington D.C. and international business with an emphasis on Japanese inbound investment at Glass, McCullough, Sherrill & Harrold in Atlanta.
Dean Sealing has been involved in legal education for the past sixteen years, as an adjunct professor, professor and administrator, serving most recently as Dean for Student Affairs at the Syracuse University College of Law. He previously taught at Emory University, Georgia State University and John Marshall Law School, Atlanta.
Dean Sealing has published seventeen law review articles as well as several book chapters, most focused on international law or human rights and civil liberties issues. Dean Sealing is currently completing the presentation, "Waiting On The World To Change: Humanizing Law School for the Millennial Generation," for the symposium/conference "Humanizing Legal Education" October 19-20, 2007 at Washburn University School of Law. Dean Sealing will discuss the fact that the Millennial Generation (those born after 1982) are a very different group of individuals than those of Generation X (born 1961 to 1981). He will discuss both the changes in law school teaching methodologies and organization than can and should be made to humanize the law school environment for the Millennials as well as countervailing arguments that the legal academy should not change despite the different world views of the Millennials and their predecessors. Dean Sealing has been married to Patricia, a health care consultant, for the past twenty years. Their daughter, Ariel, will be a freshman at the Pennsylvania State University this fall. His interests include photography, soccer, sushi and Tai Chi Chuan.
