2013 Puppypalooza Saturday

It's time for Puppypalooza! PuppyPalooza 2013 is the fith annual, outdoor dog/owner, family friendly social event, featuring a raffle, a fenced-in dog area for off leash fun, vegan food, and non-alcoholic beverages. Raffle prizes consist of donations from local businesses, such as gift cards, pet-products, etc. The event is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring supplies (towels, paper towels, pet food, and cleaning supplies) to donate to Shamrock Pet Foundation, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of companion animals through proactive programs such as spay/neuter, public education and adoption options in the Louisville, Kentucky area.

PuppyPalooza T-shirts

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund will be selling PuppyPalooza t-shirts and tasty baked goods on Thursday, April 14th, from 1pm-4pm. The t-shirts will be $10 each and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Animal Care Society of Louisville, a non-profit organization who's prime purpose is to find new, caring homes for pets whose owners can no longer give them the love or care they need. It is the only no-kill shelter in Louisville.

Who is PALS? Rexéna Napier, Lauren Bean, Victoria Steinbach and Melissa McHendrix, four May graduates of the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, have created Partnership for Animal Law Services (PALS). PALS plans to provide legal services and education to people in rural and urban areas of Kentucky focusing on the intervention and prevention of animal abuse and neglect. These services will empower clients and the public to build a compassionate community for all. PALS will take a grassroots approach by providing three main programs: general legal services, prosecution support, and education.

Why are we having a karaoke party? PALS is currently a candidate for a $50,000 Pepsi Refresh project grant. Pepsi is giving away over 1 million dollars each month to individuals striving to bring about social change. The public votes for the ideas they want to see happen, and those ideas get funded. SALDF Invites You To Puppy Palooza!!

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund presents the Second Annual Puppy Palooza! Join us on April 11^thbetween 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Patterson Park & Jefferson County Traditional Middle School, 1418 Morton Ave., Louisville, KY.

Puppy Palooza provides fun activities and games for people and dogs! Free Admission! Featuring: a fenced in dog area for off fleash fun, informational tables from local businesses and animal organizations, giveaways and prizes, and a silent auction from 2pm - 4pm. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Animal Care Society.

Kudos to the Animal Law Moot Court Team

The Animal Law Moot Court Team, comprising Lauren Bean and Rexena Napier, made it to the semifinal round National Animal Law Moot Court Competition held at Harvard Law School February 5-7. Their only loss was to the team that won the entire competition. As this is only the second year UofL has taken part in this competition, this performance was especially noteworthy.

Animal Law Moot Court at Harvard

This weekend, Lauren Bean and Rexéna Napier will be competing in the National Animal Law Moot Court Competition at Harvard. Ebert Haegele will be competing in the Closing Argument Competition. Best of luck to the competitors!
