The Student Welfare Committee, which consist primarily of faculty, wants to receive input on creating a "Reading Week," also known as a "Dead Week," for spring semesters.  This would involve having a full week, Monday-Friday, with no classes after the last day of class in the spring semester.  The first week of finals would commence the following Monday-Friday, followed by the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, and then finals would resume/conclude the week after the Derby. 

This is not an SBA agenda. This idea is not sponsored by myself or anyone on SBA.  Please consider your decision carefully.  There is a poll on TWEN to voice your opinion on the issue.

The UK Tax Law Society is in the process of lining up events that will be open to both Louisville and NKU students!!  Such events include a "Careers in Tax Law" panel discussion and a social event (likely to be held in Louisville) with local tax attorneys.  If you are interested in pursuing a career in tax law, these events will be extremely beneficial to you.  These events will not only be educational in nature, but will also provide an invaluable networking opportunity to those in attendance.  The dates/times for these events are TBD, pending the availability of our guest attorneys.

On behalf of the Student Bar Association, I hope that you will attend Decedents' Ball 2010.  The party will be at O'Shea's downtown and starts at 7:30 p.m. and will officially end at 11 p.m., but I suspect that people will have a great time and will want to stay out longer than that.  Tickets will be sold from noon until 2 p.m. today and tomorrow in the lobby area of the law school.  Remember, there are no physical tickets.  When you pay your $15 to an SBA representative he/she will put your name on a list and you will be good to go!  Hope to see you there!

Decedents' Ball is right around the corner!  It will be held this Saturday, October 30 at O'Sheas.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  O'Sheas is located downtown at 123 Main Street.

Tickets will go on sale in the Mosaic Lobby on Wednesday, October 27.  The cost is $15 per ticket.  SBA Representatives will be available in the lobby from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Students can also buy tickets from their class representatives. 

This is going to be a fantastic event with plenty of prizes, food, and drink.  Come on out and wear your best costume!

Due to complaints related to limited space in the refrigerators in the basement lunchroom, SBA must clean out food left over night.  If you have been bringing food for the week, or days at a time and keeping it in the fridge, please take the excess food home and only store food for one (1) day at a time in the fridges. We are limited on space and want everyone to have the option of using the fridges each day. This will also prevent food from being left and forgotten in the refrigerators (which will help with the smell that has recently started coming from the refrigerators.) The SBA will be throwing away food left in the fridges overnight and sanitizing/cleaning the fridges, and lunchroom starting this week. This maintenance and service will continue throughout the year.
