SBA Elections - Candidacy Interest Meetings Today

SBA Elections for the SBA 2012-2013 will take place the week of March 26, 2012.  Please see the attached document regarding Election Rules and Procedures.  If you would like to run for a position, you must attend a Candidate Interest Meeting during the week of March 19, 2012.  The times for the meetings are in the attached document.  The following positions will be elected during the election: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Chair, Career Services Chair, Public Service Chair, Public Relations Chair, American Bar Association Law School Division Representative, Fundraising Chair, Technology Chair, two (2) University of Louisville Student Government Association Senators, two (2) Third Year Class Representatives, and two (2) Second Year Class Representatives.  Honor Council Elections are also included in the SBA Elections and the following positions will be elected: Five (5) Third Year Students and three (3) Second Year Students - the two (2) Third Year Students and the one (1) Second Year Representative with the least number of votes are elected as Alternates on the Honor Council.  Please see the attached document for further details on the election.

Financial Guidance Program Today

The Financial Guidance Program is today (Tuesday March 20th) from 12:00-1:00pm in Room 275.  Representatives from the UofL Financial Aid Office, Republic Bank, Northwestern Mutual, and McCauley, Nicolas & Company will be there to discuss loan repayment and financial planning while you are in law school and after graduation.  Jimmy Johns will be served!

TODAY - Enhancing Employment Opportunities through Mentoring

Plese join the SBA today (Wednesday, March 7) from 3:45 - 4:45pm in the Allen Courtroom for a mentoring panel.  Justice Abramson (KY Supreme Court Justice) and Bobby Simpson (GE Corporate Counsel and LBA President) will be the panelists.  Cookies will be served outside the courtroom!

What's the difference between a mentor, a role model, networking, and a person who serves as a reference?  How do you find a mentor?  How do mentoring relationships work?  Leaders in the legal profession will provide their perspectives on mentoring at an SBA sponsored panel.  This is a great opportunity to hear from some of the leaders in the legal community in Kentucky.  Snacks will be provided before the panel outside of the Allen Courtroom.

MedMal Mixer - Thursday

 Please join the SBA for this year's MedMal Mixer!  Students from the Law School, Medical School, Dental School, Nursing School, and School of Public Health are invited to attend the mixer.  You also may bring a guest who is not a member of any of the listed schools.  The mixer is this Thursday, March 8th from 7:30-11:00pm at Howl at the Moon at Fourth Street Live!  Free food and drink specials will be provided.  Each school is encouraged to wear a certain color - law students are encouraged to wear red.  We hope to see you there!
