Tax Moot Court

The Tax Moot Court Team is now seeking interested upper-level students who wish to participate in the upcoming National Tax Moot Court Competition.

The Florida Bar Tax Section sponsors the National Tax Moot Court Competition on an annual basis. The 2014 competition will be held February 6-8, 2014 at the Clearwater Beach Marriott Suites on Sand Key, Florida.

The format of the competition consists of a first round double elimination oral argument followed by single elimination quarterfinals, semifinal and final rounds. The problem consists of three or four issues, all tax related. For preliminary rounds of the oral argument competition, judges are made up of attorneys who are members of The Florida Bar Tax Section. The final and consolation rounds will be judged by judges from the US Tax Court.

Interested students should send Prof. Blackburn their resume along with a short expression of interest.  Please submit by email to tblackburn@louisville.edu. After the initial selection process, Prof. Blackburn will later ask for a meeting, mock argument and writing sample.

The selection process will begin Friday, 10-25-13. Please send in your resume and interest statement as soon as possible.
