Kentucky Bar Association Young Lawyers Division $500 Bar Study Scholarship
pThe Young Lawyers Division of the Kentucky Bar Association will award a $500 bar study award to a graduating University of Louisville Law student based on the following criteria:/ppThe $500 award shall be granted to a graduating 3L or 4L who: (1) has made a significant contribution to his/her law school community (with preference for participation in student organizations such as the Student Bar Association); (2) has a demonstrated need for financial assistance; and (3) intends to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. /ppThe award shall be used for expenses associated with taking the Kentucky Bar Exam in July 2013. Individuals wishing to apply for the award should submit a one-page letter detailing why he/she should receive the award along with a resume to Dean Ballard by strongMay 17/strong. The determination will be made in the sole discretion of the Executive Committee of Young Lawyers Division of the Kentucky Bar Association./p

Campus Street Closures for Derby Events
pUpcoming Derby Festival events will affect parking, traffic and final exams on and around Belknap Campus./ppBecause of Thunder over Louisville, parking will not be allowed on Third Street from River Road to Eastern Parkway and on Fourth Street from Broadway to Winkler Avenue all day Saturday, April 20. Parking also will not be allowed on First Street from Broadway to Cardinal Boulevard (west side)./ppThe Derby Festival Marathon and Mini-Marathon will force closures of Third Street from Central Avenue to Main Street and Fourth Street from Oakdale Avenue to Main from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Students taking final exams and anyone coming to Belknap Campus that day should plan to arrive on the east side of campus and park on the east side or in the center of campus. Lots will not be accessible from Third or Fourth streets./ppPlease keep these closures in mind as you plan your finals study schedule. /p

Meet Grendel and Beowulf on Monday!
pstrongGrendel/strong (on left) is a 6-year old American Bulldog. He was found as a stray in Bourbon County in 2009, and is thought to have been used as a quot;bait animalquot; in dog-fighting as he was horribly scarred when rescued. His temperament is very passive and sweet - he is referred to as an 85-pound 'cupcake.' With his buddy, strongBeowulf/strong (on right), he has visited many nursing homes, schools, hospitals, Library READ programs, and is also a Hospice and VA volunteer. This gentle giant is especially good with children. He excels at being a lapdog. Grendel was awarded his CGC (Canine Good Citizenship) from the AKC in Nov. 2010. He has been a certified Therapy Dog through Pawsibilities Unleashed since early 2010./ppstrongBeowulf/strong was pulled from an Ohio shelter in Nov. 2007. He is approx. 8 yrs old. He received his therapy certification in early 2008. Beowulf enjoys playing fetch and LOVES chasing a laser light in the dark. Like Grendel, he routinely participates in the Books amp; Best Friends reading program, VA volunteer, Hospice, schools for Canine Safety Education, nursing homes and hospitals. Both have represented Pawsibilities Unleashed in a number of parades and outdoor events. Both participated in the Heroes Night Out at Ft. Meet Bella at Paws for the Law on Monday!
pBella is six year old Newfoundland. She was rescued at age three. Bella loves people of all ages, dogs, cats and horses, too. She is a dual certified service dog and therapy dog. Bella has over 250 volunteer hours. She has represented Pawsibilities Unleashed at Heroes Night Out, Fort Knox, and EKU, as well as many other venues.br / br /Bella spends the majority of her time at Noe Middle School doing Animal Assisted Therapy with 6th graders and providing de-stress relief for anyone who requests it. She loves to see her red bandana and hear Mom say, quot;Ready to Work?quot;.
