Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs ("KASAP") Needs Students!

KASAP is the Coalition of 13 rape crisis centers in Kentucky. Its mission is to speak with a unified voice against sexual violence. KASAP is the leading agency in Kentucky providing training, technical assistance and policy expertise on issues of sexual violence. This summer, KASAP seeks independent, hard-working and reliable interns (ideally 2 students, but a maximum of 3) to complete the following projects either on-site at KASAP's office in Frankfort or in Louisville.  Hours worked will count toward your public service requirement.

1. Summary of Sexual Violence Case law for 2012-2013 in Kentucky. Research and provide summaries of cases pertaining to sexual violence, including but not limited to criminal law, civil litigation, employment law, housing law and family and dependency/neglect/abuse law.

2. Update and finalize Know Your Rights Guide on Civil Remedies for Survivors of Sexual Assault for publication.

3. Assist in drafting regulations to implement Kentucky's Safe Harbor provisions to protect child victims of sex trafficking, in relation to Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Department of Juvenile Justice. Assist in staffing stakeholder group meeting to implement new law (including doing legal research, assembling packets, and writing a report of the recommendations created by the group.)

4. Help create Human Trafficking 101 train the trainer curriculum and packets for fall 2013 event. Shadow the staff attorney in legal training on human trafficking.
