Applications are now available for the 2009 Summer Law Institute, scheduled for June 15-20.

The annual program is a week-long law camp open to all high school students interested in the law and legal profession, and is sponsored by the LBA, Brandeis School of Law, and Bellarmine University. Students learn the fundamentals of trial procedure, discuss important legal and social issues, and study how the law affects their lives. This program provides students an opportunity to meet and interact with local attorneys, judges, and law professors. Throughout the week, students participate in workshops, take trips to the Jefferson County Judicial Center and Bellarmine, and prepare and present a mock trial.

A mandatory orientation for parents/guardians and students who have been accepted to the Summer Law Institute is scheduled at 6:30 PM, June 2. Agenda items include mock trial case information, dress code, and rules and regulations.

Tuition is $110 per student, and some scholarships are available to those who qualify. The Summer Law Institute is generously funded by the Louisville Bar Foundation.

For more information or with questions about the program, contact Cindy Robinson at (502) 583-5314 or visit the LBA's homepage to download the application.
