An Evening with Bob Edwards and This I Believe

On Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 7:30 PM, Louisville native Bob Edwards will host a live taping of his national radio program featuring the popular series This I Believe. Edwards will interview award-winning photojournalist Molly Bingham about a statement of belief written by her grandfather, Barry Bingham, Sr., in the 1950s. Then J. Blaine Hudson, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisville, will talk about an essay by longtime UofL professor and civil rights activist Charles H. Parrish. The conversations will be recorded for later broadcast on The Bob Edwards Show on Sirius/XM satellite radio, and on Bob Edwards Weekend, which is heard on more than 140 public radio stations nationwide including WFPL 89.3FM in Louisville.

The evening will also feature essays written and read by contemporary Louisvillians including Carol Besse, co-owner of Carmichael’s Bookstore; Judge Steve Mershon, '79; Bosnian-American peace activist and attorney Djenita Pasic, '98; and Joe Reagan, President and CEO of Greater Louisville, Inc. Edwards will interview each essayist to learn the stories behind their statements of belief.

The event will be held at the Cralle Theater in Wyatt Hall on the Bellarmine University campus. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for students and senior citizens. A limited number of special VIP tickets to the live taping and a post-show, wine and cheese reception with Edwards and the essayists are available for $125 at 259-9889.
