BUSINESS LAW SOCIETY'S RECENT GRAD PANEL

The Business Law Society is hosting a panel of recently graduated attorneys to provide an in depth look at career avenues after law school. Please join us on Thursday, February 13th at 12:00pm - 1:00pm in room 275. Our distinguished panel will discuss their job search experiences and answer questions regarding their career path, the current job marketplace, as well as their respective practices.

$3,000 IN PRIZES - LEGAL MEMO CONTEST UPDATES

As of January 6, 2014, Judge Judith McDonald-Burkman issued a scheduling order with an extended briefing schedule. The extra time is welcome, and as a result the Legal Memo Contest deadline is extended to March 15, 2014. The rest of the rules and contest criteria remain the same.

We are still currently accepting participants and will do so up until the deadline.  A winner will be awarded by the end of the Spring semester. If you have any further questions, please respond to jgwilkett@gmail.com

The Business Law Society's first legal memo contest is a great opportunity to win some money and practice your legal writing skills. This is also an official law school contest with a well-known local attorney selecting the winning memos so you can use your work product when applying for legal jobs.

 

Finally, the winning work product will also be used in a real case and that will be a great addition to your resume and speaking point in interviews.

 

The Winner will receive $2,000 and the runner-up will receive $1,000. The due date for the memo is January 20th at 8am. So you still have over a month! This event is Members Only!! However, you can join anytime up to the due date and the membership fee is just $10.

 

The deadline for completed memos is 8:00am, January 20th, 2014.

The Business Law Society is happy to co-sponsor an event featuring Professor Ray Nimmer.  He will provide a 1-hour presentation on the "Intersection of Commercial and Intellectual Property Law and Practice in the 21st Century.”  The presentation will  take place in room 275 at the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at 6:00 P.M. on November 14th.   
A reception at 5:00 will precede the presentation in Cox Lounge.  Faculty, students, and practitioners are encouraged to attend the reception. Professor Nimmer is the outgoing dean of University of Houston Law Center and co-director of the Houston Intellectual Property and Information Law Institutes.  He is the author of over twenty-five books and numerous articles, including a three-volume treatise on Information Law, a multi-volume book on the Law of Computer Technology, a treatise on Modern Licensing Law, and a multi-volume treatise on The Law of Electronic Commercial Transactions.
