Barristers’ Ball tickets will be on sale beginning Wednesday, March 30th.  The Student Bar Association will be sponsoring a Panera Bread Breakfast in the Mosaic Lobby from 9-11am. Tickets will be on sale at the table or through your SBA Class Representatives for $20 each.

All students who purchase tickets during the first week of sales (Wednesday, March 30th- Friday, April 1st) will be entered into a raffle for a variety of prizes including 2 iPod shuffles and various Louisville gear.  The raffle winners will be announced on Monday, April 4th in the Student Organizations Bulletin.

Students are encouraged to bring a guest and can purchase up to 1 additional guest ticket for $20. Purchase of a guest ticket however does equate to an additional chance in the raffle.  Tickets will be available for pre-sale up to Thursday, April 7th in either the Lobby or through a Student Representative.  Tickets will also be on sale at the door the night of the event for $30 each. 

Barristers’ Ball will be held Friday, April 8th from 8pm-Midnight at the Historic Henry Clay in Downtown Louisville.  Beverages and Hor D’oeuvres will be provided.  Proper dress for the evening is Cocktail attire.  Entrance into the event will require the physical ticket and a valid form of identification.

Law Review is having a pasta lunch on Monday, March 21st in the Mosaic Lounge.  There will be a variety of pasta for only $5!

All faculty and students of the law school are invited to join the members of Louisville’s legal community for a kickoff to St. Patrick’s Day event on Thursday, March 10.  The event will start at 6:00 pm at Molly Malone’s on Baxter Avenue.  There will be food, drinks, and music provided by the Young Lawyer’s Section of the Louisville Bar Association, the Student Bar Association, and other sponsors.  This is a great event to network with some attorneys in Louisville, as well as with your colleagues and faculty of the law school.  Continue your professional development and kickoff spring break at the same time!  Please see the attached invitation for more details and email Kristie Wetterer (kristie.wetterer@gmail.com) with any questions.  We hope to see you there!

Today, the Louisville Bar Association will have a table in the Mosaic Lobby from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Please stop by their table if you are interested in joining the LBA or just want general information about their organization.

On Wednesday, March 2, in room 275 at 12 p.m. the SBA is hosting a Financial Guidance and Planning Program.  The purpose of the program is to increase financial literacy amongst our students.  We will have four panelists speak about the importance of saving and investing money; how to pay off student loans; and how to start up your own practice.  Our panelists will be Ashley Roberts from Republic Bank, Brian Walter from Northwestern Mutual; Marcus Folmar from Edward Jones; and Mike Abboud from the University Financial Aid Office.  I encourage everyone to come to this event.  Food will be provided.

Once again, please be reminded that an ABA site team will be at our law school beginning February 28.  Their purpose is to make sure that our law school is keeping its commitment to us.  Site team members will be sitting in classes and walking our halls.  Please be aware that they will be observing students and professors.  They also want a chance to hear from us and will hold student meetings on Monday, February 28 at 5 p.m. in room 275 and on Tuesday, March 1 at 12 p.m. in room 275.  You are encouraged to be at these meetings.  Also, food will be provided at both meetings!
